Experience the history of the Venetian cities

Starting from the sec. XVI the Euganean Hills and the surrounding Venetian plain became the holiday resort of patrician families, who established their summer residence here, erecting numerous villas such as Barbarigo one with its fantastic garden in Valsanzibio, Villa dei Vescovi in Torreglia, Catajo Castle in Battaglia Terme.

Nearby there are some ancient quarries, already active in Roman times, with the remains of the kilns that transformed the limestone rock of these hills into precious construction material, also praised by Andrea Palladio ( visit the nearby museum of the Cava Bomba furnace in Cinto Euganeo ).

In the museum of the Bacchiglione river in the Castle of S. Martino and at the Museum of River Navigation in Battaglia Terme one can trace the dense network of navigable canals and river, active since remote times up to the middle of the last century, used to deliver the local products to Vicenza, Padua and Venice
